“The shoe with the beautiful fit,” touts this UK based shoe and handbag confectionery, which has some of the most delicious shoes I’ve seen in some time. Featured in Anthropologie and other boutique retailers, Miss L Fire’s vintage-inspired shoes can now be ordered directly from the source. The online collection is not priced on the website, but an email inquiry should take care of any information-seeking and orders you may wish to place. Sometimes we have to be proactive to get fabulous things.

I apologize for the lack of original content this week, as I’m in the throes of bronchitis, but I will muster up enough energy to pass along news of Remix Vintage Shoes’ “Valentines Sweetheart Deal,” which is a pretty sweet deal – a new color of Remix’s Piazza shoe, Valentine red, at a low-for-Remix price of $138.00. I have the Piazza shoe in tan and it is a versatile and comfortable shoe. Love the new color – who doesn’t need another pair of red heels? 😉
While I was going through my inbox yesterday, deleting old emails, I came upon an email I sent to myself in April of 2005 titled “More wedges!” In the message was a link to Cruisin Australia, an online retailer of obvious origin who carries some really fantastic reproduction 1940’s and 1950’s shoes. I’m fairly determined to bring back the saddle shoe and this could be the supplier, with 3 different color schemes for men and 7 different color schemes for women. Cruisin Australia has a great selection of wedges and low heels for women, including a pair with leather perforations, which let those hot dancing feet breathe! The menswear line has a classic selection, including wingtips, captoes, suedes, and bucks.

I have always admired Aris Allen’s 1930’s heeled oxford, it’s such a lovely shoe. Here’s a pair, new in box, on eBay in a size 8. Starting price is $34.99, about half the price of ordering a new pair from Dancestore.com.

Yes, I own a lot of shoes, but I rarely pay full price for them. Why? I am patient and if I wait long enough, eBay will deliver what I need at a reasonable price. Just up on eBay, a pair of Remix’s Open Toe Spectators in black, size 8. They look like they are in great used condition and with a $24.99 starting price, these versatile shoes are a steal.

The vintage men’s watches are especially good, with watches from the 1920’s through the 1950’s that look like they are in sturdy, wearable condition. Their swimwear selections feature the best of Esther Williams’ swimwear line. The site also offers some fun pieces that may fill gaps in your wardrobe or Halloween costume (like that Rosie the Riveter jumpsuit – where else do you find that?). If you’re on the Remix Vintage Shoes email list, this probably isn’t news because you saw this in your inbox this morning – but for the rest of the world, Remix has introduced some new styles and a new color in an existing style. Three danceable pairs for the ladies and a new pair of oxfords for the gents. Excited! Here’s the lineup:
Boardwalk
“BOARDWALK – Sporty ladies oxford style lace-up in two tone combinations of Grey/Black, Brown/Cafe and Brown/Sand. Smart perforated details make this new style a stand-out! Strider

Cassandre
“CASSANDRE, now available in a two tone black combination. A 1920’s – ’30’s style with faux buttons and slip on construction. Also comes in navy or ivory.” This shoe has been in Remix’s catalog for a while, but the addition of the two tone black (with gray?) is a welcome one. I have these in the navy combo and love them…maybe Santa will bring me a pair of the black ones for Christmas. I’ve been really good this year, right?
Cap Toe Oxford
“CAP TOE OXFORD. A style that originated in the 1920’s and still remains a men’s classic, the Re-mix CAP TOE comes in white Nubuck with black leather trim, white Nubuck with brown leather trim and all white Nubuck. All have a polished leather sole and all leather construction. Sizes 7 1/2 to 13. Good for the “Avenue” and great for the dance floor!” Gentlemen, this is a good looking shoe. Feel free to invest in looking spectacular.

I know, another pair of Remixes, but after the dry spell, we’ve got to strike while the iron is hot! Up for grabs is a pair of Remix “Greta” wedges in black, size 6, only worn once. Starting price is $29.99 for this shoe that normally retails at $164.
As a source for Remix Vintage Shoes, eBay’s been dry for weeks, but the tide may be turning. A pair of Remix “Avenue” shoes, size 6, in brown leather and turquoise suede. I don’t see these on the Remix website, so perhaps this is a limited edition color? They are rather fetching. Starting bid is $49.00, probably 1/4 of what you would pay from Remix directly.
