Silver Shoes Go With Everything

Well, maybe not everything, but silver/pewter shoes certainly go with almost everything. They are neutral without being boring – a little bit shiny and exciting. A pair of Remix pleated toe wedges in silver showed up on eBay this week in a size 10.5/11. The Buy It Now is about half the retail price of this shoe, but the seller is open to offers. It definitely never hurts to make an offer.

I’m not seeing any silver wedges on the Remix website – limited edition color? Sample? I’d really love a pair of these in my size, can Remix make more of these in silver (hint, hint)? 😉

Remix Myrna

A pair of Remix “Myrna” shoes has popped up on eBay this week, size 6.5, in that doesn’t go with anything so it will go with everything kind of color of yellow and taupe piping. This pair has never been worn – thus, the starting price is a bit higher at $80.00, with a Buy It Now of $130.00, but it’s still cheaper than retail!

Incidentally, my childhood ballet teacher’s name was Miss Myrna. I can’t see these shoes without thinking of her. 🙂

Cap Toes Galore

I’m not sure how eBay seller justin711 came into this many pairs of men’s cap toe shoes from the 1920’s through the 1940’s, but he has listed eight pairs of them, all in wearable condition. My favorite pair are the two tone brown and white, with the scuffed up boots coming in a close second. Here are the goods, in sizes ranging from 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 and a $19.99 starting price:

While the Dara shoe has a rubber sole and it is not great for dancing, it is a most comfortable and adorable street shoe – it’s also the deal of the day at a $29.99 starting price.

For the price of a new pair of shoes, I could have two or three pairs (and given the price of Remix shoes, three or four pairs) for the price of one. Hazelwood Dress

You know you’ve looked at the Remix Vintage Shoes website too many times when you spot a cute ensemble and know exactly which pair of Remix shoes you’d pair with it. This time, I’ve spotted a dress that would look good with two styles – this brown and tan/gray “Hazelwood” dress from ModCloth may be vintage-inspired, but the clean lines on the dress also look very modern to me. This could also be the jump start for your Fall dance and/or work wardrobe, no?

However, without great accessories, this dress falls short of stellar. Two pairs of Remix Vintage Shoes came to mind: depending on how well the color blends, both the “Beverly” and the “Zurich” look like they would pair well with the Hazelwood dress. Now that I have this pairing together, I’m thinking maybe one of the brown on brown combos would look good as well…so many shoes, so little disposable income. 😉

Aris Allens on Ebay! For Men!

As with all things on eBay, patience will inevitably pay off.  So, if you’re a size 11 and you need a pair of dance shoes (and you like brown plaid), then today is your day!

This particular pair of dress sneaker is said to have been worn three times.

Breathable Leather Shoes: Act Quickly!

I found a vintage pair of Allen Edmonds Strawfuts on sale on eBay, but you’ll have to act quickly if you want them.

Why would you want them?  These black wingtips are breathable because a large part of the upper is made with nylon mesh.  It’s a simple solution to overheating shoes that you don’t see in modern shoes.

Honestly, if these were half a size larger, I would buy them myself.

The good news is that Allen Edmonds may bring the Strawfut back for the Spring/Summer 2011 season.  If that’s true, I’ll be buying a couple pairs in different colors!
