It’s Not a Trumpet Skirt, But…

This post was written by Lindy Shopper.

In the middle of my Trumpet Skirt Crusade I stopped by the Shabby Apple website to check out their new collection called “The Block.” Lots of bright, cheerful colors in this collection of dresses, tops, and skirts, including this wonderful pleated skirt that flares out at the bottom, creating a bit of that that trumpet skirt shape. Available in blue (Cityscape Skirt), red (Streetcar Skirt), and yellow (Taxicab Skirt).

Delia*s Makes Me Wish For Summer

This post was written by Lindy Shopper.

As most of the United States is blanketed with snow and ice, the Delia*s catalog arrives in my mailbox, bearing good tidings of warm weather that we won’t see for a few more months. I see cork soled wedges and sundresses and I want the temperature to go up 40 degrees so the sheet of ice covering my driveway will evaporate and I can emerge from the cocoon of winter coats into the warm glow of a summer sun. Is that too much to ask for?

Delia*s is one of those stores/catalogs that I think most people associate with teenagers, but every year I find something in the Delia*s catalog that becomes that thing that everyone asks, “Where did you get that? It’s so cute!” It’s definitely worth a look. Here’s a preview of some good things to come from Delia*s:

Polka dot dress, only $44.50

Nautical stripe knit dress

Polka dot short

Yellow polka dot bikini - hehe

Two tone oxford, also in black and white

Peep toe espadrille flats, also in navy

Yang wedge, in 4 colors...not danceable, but we still need arrival shoes, right?

A more danceable option, Keds Champion Oxford in silver, also available in metallic blue

Remix Myrna

This post was written by Lindy Shopper.

A pair of Remix “Myrna” shoes has popped up on eBay this week, size 6.5, in that doesn’t go with anything so it will go with everything kind of color of yellow and taupe piping. This pair has never been worn – thus, the starting price is a bit higher at $80.00, with a Buy It Now of $130.00, but it’s still cheaper than retail!

Incidentally, my childhood ballet teacher’s name was Miss Myrna. I can’t see these shoes without thinking of her. 🙂

Old Dress, New Dress

This post was written by Lindy Shopper.

I couldn’t come up with a catchy name for this post, but I liken it to those sections in fashion magazines that are “Real v. Steal,” only the comparison here is old v. new. How does an older dress translate to a newer dress? Here, primarily through the use of fabric and trimmings. The old version is a belted 1940’s dress being sold on eBay, with black piping, buttons, and belt. The new version is from Trashy Diva who created this “early 1940’s inspired dress” from a similar fabric to the old one, with black button and belt buckle detailing, giving it a similar feel to the vintage dress. Overall, the effect of both dresses is very cool and I’d love to see more of this color scheme on the dance floor.
