Old Woogies

This one is for the gents – while Old Woogies has some adorable women’s shoes, the focus of the company’s apparel, accessories, and footwear is men. Old Woogies is based out of Italy and sells men’s shoes, pants, suspenders, belts, jumpers (aka short sleeve sweaters), hats, jeans, caps, and other menswear items inspired by the swing era and the 1950’s. There’s much more on the website, but here are some of my faves (which may turn out like your mom dressing you…). 😉

Take a break from your white Aris Allens and sink your feet into these white lovelies.
Classic pant, wide leg, cuffs...yes, please.
Two tone in white and brown.
The website offers a variety of patterned suspenders in classic color palettes.
Mesh and leather...I'd like to see more of these on the dance floor.
Caps in many fabrics!
Some burly looking denim.

1940’s alligator shoes, never worn

This is one classy looking pair of alligator shoes that have never been worn, courtesy of a UK eBay seller who is reluctantly selling this beautiful pair because they do not fit. Oh, I have been there…it’s better to just let them go. 😉 Check your foot measurements, ladies, because this pair is awesome!

Leather and mesh shoes for men

I know a lot of swing ladies who have this pair of Aris Allen heeled oxfords. They are flexible, comfortable, and breatheable and I know I love my pair.

So when I came across these shoes on eBay, I was wondering: do the same principles apply to men’s shoes? Would this pair of oxfords have the same mesh benefits as the Aris Allen oxford heel? Regardless, they are a sharp looking pair of vintage shoes. Gents, feel free to weigh in with your feedback.

Granny shoes

The heeled oxford can be an elegant shoe and this collection of “granny shoes” on eBay is a prime example of oxfords done well. Most of these shoes are narrow in width, so check the measurements carefully or pick up a shoe stretcher. There are so many of them, maybe a few of you could go in together on the auction…

Special thanks to Milda Matilda for posting the auction and to Heidi Rosenau for suggesting that narrow shoe issues can be solved with a stretcher. 🙂

Canvas saddle shoe sneakers at UrbanOutfitters.com

This is a brilliant idea:  take a vintage shoe style that may not be the most comfortable for dancing in its original form, or the most affordable when made in leather, and make a Keds-style sneaker replica.  Suede the soles and you’re set!  I wore these at DCLX for the first time and they were comfortable and received a lot of attention. 🙂

Find them at the Urban Outfitters website.  Not available in stores, for sale online only.
